Social Media Revolution

Technology is changing people’s life. No matter when and where, we cannot live without technology in 21st century.

This video is about the importance of social media. First, what impressed me most were some numbers.
  • 96% of millennials have  joined a social network.
  • 1 out of 8 couples married in the US met via social media.
  • Facebook added over 200 million users in less than a year.
  • If Facebook were a country, it would be the world's 3rd largest.

All these numbers indicate that social network have already infiltrated in people's life. We cannot look down on the power of social network. As this video mentioned, every person is a word of mouth, which is becoming the world of mouth. That means everyone can post his or her opinion or search any information in the Internet. Because of technology, there is no real distance between every people. And because of technology, we have another kind of communication among friends.
"We no longer search for the news, the news finds us..."

In the 21st century,  teachers should pay attention to this huge resource and make use of it to provide students with more information. Nowadays, students cannot be satisfied with the traditional classrooms, which is boring and outdated. As this video pointed out, social media isn't a fad, and it is a fundamental shift in the we communicate. To be a future teacher, if I still use traditional way to teach students or communicate with them, that would not be feasible. I need to make some changes, keep pace with the development of new era, and take advantage of technology to create students' curiosity and inspire them to study.

I like the quote in the image you have in your post. It is very important that we use technology judiciously. That is to say, we should be careful not to use technology just for the "wow" factor, but because it enhances a lesson. These are still many good lessons that work equally well without such enhancements.
